CDSA Releases First Round of Aldermanic Endorsements

The Chicago chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America has endorsed Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, Daniel La Spata, Jeanette Taylor, Nick Ward, and Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez in the upcoming 2023 Aldermanic Elections.

As a democratic organization, the decision to endorse any candidate is ultimately up to membership. In a chapter-wide election this month, Chicago DSA members voted on a first round of candidates considered in the pre-petition phase; a second round of candidates will be considered for endorsement in September.

Alderpersons La Spata, Rodriguez-Sanchez, Ramirez-Rosa, and Taylor were all previously endorsed in the 2019 Aldermanic Elections. As DSA activists themselves and as sitting members of City Council, each re-endorsed alderperson has demonstrated their commitment to Chicago’s working class.

In this initial round of endorsements, Chicago DSA members also voted to endorse 48th Ward candidate Nick Ward, a DSA member and experienced organizer on issues of labor and housing justice.

“I’m honored to receive an endorsement from the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America,” said Nick Ward. “We are united in our vision of a 48th Ward and Chicago that puts working class people first. I look forward to working with CDSA on supporting labor, fighting for democratized institutions, and building working class power in Chicago.”
